For an international, design-driven consumer appliances company in Amsterdam, we are looking for an experienced CMF Designer. In this role you shape the look & feel of products that are used daily in millions of homes worldwide - from colour strategy and materials to finishes and final implementation in mass production. You will lead multiple CMF projects end-to-end, partner closely with Product Design, Marketing and Engineering, and translate brand and user insights into distinctive, feasible CMF solutions.

Tasks & Responsibilities CMF Designer
- Own CMF projects from brief to launch: Lead several CMF projects in parallel: from initial brief, research and concept creation to final specifications and market introduction.
- Define CMF strategy for your category: Shape long-term CMF strategy and range architecture for a key consumer appliances category, with sustainability as an important driver (e.g. material choices, finishes, durability).
- Ensure CMF consistency across products: Safeguard CMF quality and consistency across product families by aligning with the central CMF team, product designers and engineers.
- Prototype, review & refine: Brief and review models, samples and prototypes, document clear CMF feedback and work with suppliers and model makers to realise your intent in production.
- Research trends & users: Conduct and translate consumer, competitor and trend research into relevant CMF directions and differentiating design opportunities.
- Inspire the design community: Share knowledge, present your concepts and engage the global design community with inspiring moodboards, material stories and visualisations.
- Deliver clear CMF documentation: Generate CMF concepts, palettes and definitions (colour standards, materials, finishes), and deliver clear documentation and specifications that are feasible and cost-efficient in manufacturing.
Our Offer
This role is offered via SMS Intermediair on a temporary assignment:
- A challenging international environment with a strong focus on design and innovation.
- Temporary role for 6 months, starting in January 2026, with the possibility of extension.
- 32–40 hours per week (4 or 5 days, flexible in working days).
- Employment via temporary contract / secondment, salary around €4,500 gross per month (fulltime). (Freelance / ZZP is not an option for this assignment.)
- Plenty of room for creative exploration with colours, materials and finishes, in close collaboration with senior experts in CMF and Product Design.

This international, design-driven organisation in Amsterdam creates consumer products with a strong focus on aesthetics, user experience and material innovation. Design, Engineering and Marketing work closely together to turn new concepts into reality, always balancing creativity and feasibility.
Your Team
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of Product Designers, CMF Designers, Digital UX, Communication Designers and Program Managers, and a global design community of around 450 colleagues. Together you shape the future identity of the product portfolio through impactful projects, design guidelines and final design specifications. The culture is open, collaborative and curious: new ideas are welcomed, prototyping is part of the daily workflow and there is plenty of room to experiment with new colours, materials, finishes and design directions.
Profile CMF Designer
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design (or related).
- 5+ years of dedicated CMF experience in home appliances and/or consumer electronics (not only as a small part of a broader product design role).
- A strong, up-to-date CMF portfolio showing: moodboards, palettes and material/finish concepts, KeyShot CMF renderings, final consumer products that are on the market with a clear description of your CMF role.
- Deep knowledge of materials, finishes and manufacturing processes (e.g. plastics, coatings, metals, textures) and how these impact feasibility, quality and cost.
- Strong craft skills in CMF visualisation - you tell convincing stories through moodboards, material boards and 3D visualisations.
- Excellent English communication and storytelling skills; you are able to influence stakeholders through clear, persuasive presentations.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to model makers, suppliers and relevant fairs/exhibitions.
- Available 4 or 5 days per week, starting in January 2026.
